Collex operates under the assumption that the best paths through a complex digital resource are those forged by use and interpretation.

Diabetes Driving
Researchers at the University of Virginia, with a grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), are conducting this study to determine the most effective ways to improve driving safety. This is an Internet program that helps people with Type 1 diabetes to accurately and conveniently learn about their risk of having a car collision and reduce their risk of future car collisions.

Juxta
Juxta is an interactive collation tool. Juxta compares dozens of texts at a time, fluidly changing perspective, taking any of the texts as the base text for comparison. The comparison results are displayed as a "heat map" displaying areas of change activity or in a side-by-side comparison. A new web service, Juxta WS, replicates these features in the server environment of a digital edition.

TypeWright
TypeWright is a tool for comparing page images with their transcriptions and correcting the transcriptions. TypeWright has been integrated into the 18thConnect website, allowing users to hand-correct the searchable OCR (Optical Character Recognition) transcripts of images from eighteenth-century books.

TextLab is a web application that implements the editorial protocols of “Fluid Text” analysis by allowing users to view and transcribe manuscript images, mark up revision sites (primary editing), and compose revision sequences with explanatory narratives (secondary editing). TextLab will be integrated with the collections of the Melville Electronic Library.

Notes on the State of Virginia, iPad edition
This iPad app brings together three different versions of Thomas Jefferson's Notes on the State of Virginia: a privately published French edition, Jefferson's personal copy of the 1787 London edition, and a reading text. Readers can scroll from page to page in each version and can view page images of the historic books alongside the reading text when they turn their iPads to landscape mode.

This virtual collection brings together sources that are held in Litchfield with many others from across the country in various repositories and private hands.

SHUTi (Sleep Healthy Using The Internet) is an interactive, web-based training program designed to help people who have problems with sleep, including falling asleep, staying asleep, and waking too early in the morning. The help offered by SHUTi is based on interventions for insomnia that have been developed over the past 20 years and tested in numerous scientific studies.
